This is a lovely road, some nice bends and not much traffic, coppers dont tend to come on this road, not many stretches for speed merchants, its really the bends that make the road for me, the reservoir is a nice section but i believe the speeding at this section will be monitored this year as there is a speed indicator on that section now, so i can expect cameras to be put here if the speeding isnt controlled by ourselves. ridden it on a number of bikes and they all felt good on this route.

Today the council had very thoughtfully put some temporary lights at the start of the route. This left a clear road almost right to the end, no flat caps getting under the feet. Shame they probably won be there next time. Good road for clearing the carbs out.

Abril 1, 2009 -

This is a Beautiful stretch of road, I use it reguarly, if I want a quick blast out somewhere to get away from things but dont want to stressed out I take this route.
The Causeway is great fun, quite a new road surface however still have to watch out for Vera and Sidney in their new car with a tartan rug and a box of tissues on the parcel shelf on their Sunday day out, normally they pull off from the Reservoir Car park as youre dropping down a right hand flowing decline. Also a bit further down there is a right hand turn to Hixon had a few cars and Agricultural Vehicles pull out on me there. Generally a nice flowing road, some good corners, national speed limit most the way and it gives you enough chance to make the most of it. My route normally is from Uttoxeter along this route, to Rugeley then down the A51 to Weston before jumping on the A518 back to Uttoxeter for a mega sprint home!

August 11, 2007 -

Enjoyed the route and it also has some nice bends on it, there is a great view when you come around one bend and you can see straight across Blithfield reservoir which then leads into a great left-hand uphill bend at the other side.

Just an update, but the boys at Staffordshire Council have recently buried the road in 2 of gravel. Went along it at the weekend and its still a (cautionary) 30mph limit - so give it until mid July before you venture along it for any enjoyment

i read the abouve reviews and thought id go av a look it is indeed a nice road with not much traffic good road surfaces and good views over the resovoir i went from stoke to rugley the back up the a 50 home it was a great evening hour

Enjoyed the route some nice bends to throw the bike into. Great view when you come out of a bend and the resevoir is in front of you. Watch out for mud on the road plenty of farming activity going on.

Not a bad road but to make it a better ride, then take the B5017 from Uttoxeter towards Draycot in the Clay (nice and twisty) and pick up A515 (at Draycot in the Clay)and turn right towards Kings Bromley as you ride down the A515 you come to a cross roads in a dip turn right onto the B5234 towards Abbots Bromley as you come into Abbots Bromley turn right through the village, then turn left as you come out of the village and you are back where you started on the Rugeley-Uttoxeter road by the reservoir.

I like this route as well, I used to work in Rugeley and I used to take this road home, even though it was in the wrong direction. The Blithfield reservoir straight is cool, in the summer it's nice to stop for an ice cream.

i live in Rugeley, and do this route quite often (when the weathers good). its a very nice road, to get them tyres warmed up

This route is my favourite, plenty of twisty bits and enough straight parts for overtaking the best bit though (for me personally) is the straight run across Blithfield reservoir which leads into a great left-hand uphill bend at the other side just be wary of oncoming traffic coming in the opposite direction once your going up and over the hill
