On July 21 I am setting off on a 4-week trip from Hobart in Tasmania up to Rockhampton in Queensland, taking in a wedding on the Gold Coast. I had been planning to take in all the legendary twisty bits from Sydney on up (e.g. Putty Road, Thunderbolt Way, Gwydir Hwy, Summerland Way etc.) but the poor buggers are under flood again! Does anybody know of a good inland alternative route that will get me up to the Goldie in four days that hasn't been flooded and is doable in 5 days? Got to be sealed (on a K1300R with pillion) it just has to be interesting with good places to stay along the way and hopefully some nice bendy bits; coming from Tasmania I lose the plot when I see roads that go straight to the horizon.
